Join us for our monthly Borderlands Literature and Film Circle (BLFC) on Zoom. This is a free online event, $10 suggested donation. Our featured guests will be Xochitl Lopez (Environmental Field Coordinator) and Karla Hernandez (Environmental Field Educator). They will discuss articles and videos of vital environmental work being done to restore desert ecosystems and support binational wildlife corridors.

The Borderlands Restoration Network (BRN) works to rebuild healthy ecosystems, restore vital habitats for plants and wildlife, and reconnect border communities to the land through shared learning and restorative economy initiatives. From native plant propagation and watershed restoration to impactful youth leadership programs, BRN plays a crucial role in protecting the rich biocultural diversity of southern Arizona and northern Sonora.

These films and discussions will offer BLFC members a comprehensive overview of the vital environmental work underway in our region and the unique ecological challenges facing borderlands ecosystems. Their Vision Statement says it all: “We envision connected borderlands where rivers flow, plants, wildlife, and cultures thrive, and communities develop an inclusive restorative economy where a sense of place inspires a sense of purpose.”  It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about another incredible organization actively working to protect and restore our culturally and environmentally rich landscapes.
